Accra Assembly Hall in Baatsona - Accra Stævnehal i Baatsona

We are only a few English congregations in the Volta region, since it is a predominately Ewe area, not to say an almost exclusively Ewe speaking province. The English congregations in the area belongs to one of the many English circuits in the Greater Accra Area. So we attend assembly and conventions in Ghana's largest and most beautiful assembly hall, the one i Baatsona.

The pictures I would like to share with you, in my series Bethels and more, from Baatsona was taken at the 2013 Special Assembly day. Among other things you will have a look of one of the most beautiful baptism pools in the world.

As you can see on the map the assembly hall is actually two halls. At the same time our English circuit was there a Twi circuit also had their assembly. At Assemblies the smaller platform just in front of the two halls are used, but when it is time for the Regional Conventions these platforms are moved and the main platform is used. That is the building just behind the baptism pool.

Going to any assembly we have from 3 to 5 hours drive, depending on the traffic in Tema and Accra. And most often we sing ALL the way. It is a popular stereotype that Africans are the best singers among Jehovah's Witnesses. It is not always true. We don't sing very well, but we do sing often, loud and allot. Take a look at this video, it has a few pictures from the SAD, but mostly it is us singing in the bus on our way home.

Da vi kun er nogle få engelske menigheder her i Regionen og siden det er en næsten udelukkende Ewe talende region så er vores menighed en del af en af Accras mange engelsk talende kredse. Derfor overvære vi vore stævner i Ghanas største og smukkest stævnehal.

De billeder jeg gerne vil dele med jer, i min fortløbende serie "Bethels and more", fra Baatsona var taget på Den Særlige Stævnedag i 2013. I vil blandt andet kunne se verdens måske smukkeste dåbsbassin.

Som I kan se på kortet er der faktisk to stævnehaller. Samtidig med at vores engelske kreds havde stævne havde en Twi kreds stævne ved siden af os. Til kredstævnerne bruges de små scener I kan se lige foran hallerne. Men når der skal være Regionalstævne bliver de flyttet og den store scene lige bagved dåbsbassinet bliver brugt istedet.

Det tager fra 3 til 5 timer med bus til stævnet, alt efter hvordan trafikken er i Tema og Accra, og vi synger som reglen HELE vejen Det er en populær myte at ud af alle Jehovas Vidner i verden så er de afrikanske de bedste til at synge. Det passer ikke altid, vi synger ikke særligt godt. Men vi synger ofte, vi synger højt og vi synger længe!
